Parents Invited to Take a ‘Coffee Break’

LAFAYETTE, La. – “Give me a break!”

It’s a common phrase in the U.S. vernacular. And, it’s exactly what parents of patients are getting at Women’s & Children’s Hospital every other month.

The hospital, in conjunction with the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society and Miles Perret Cancer Services, hosts Coffee Break in the Women’s & Children’s Hospital Aquarium Lobby. The event begins at 3:30 p.m. and features pastries donated by Southside Bakery and beverages.

There is no cost to attend. Coffee Break is open only to parents of all pediatric patients currently in Women’s & Children’s Hospital.

“Coffee Break is designed to give parents who have a child currently in Women’s & Children’s Hospital a much-needed break from the hospital room, a chance to clear their head and decompress a little,” said Janie Eldridge, Child Life Specialist at Women’s & Children’s Hospital. “It gives the parents something to look forward to and reminds them that they are not alone.”

Coffee Break dates for 2012 include March 13, May 8, July 10, Sept. 11 and Nov. 13.
