Once Your Stay Is Complete
Our discharge process includes a great deal of information for both mom and baby. The postpartum nursing staff and the obstetrician will give written and verbal instructions on how mom should care for herself during the postpartum period, and your check-up visits for both you and baby will be scheduled. Louisiana law requires that all children under the age of 13 use an appropriate child restraint system, which for infants means an age and size appropriate car seat. Prior to the birth of your baby, install the car seat in the car and learn how to use it. Check your car owner’s manual for specific information about installing the car seat correctly in your vehicle. You must secure your baby in the car seat before leaving Women’s and Children’s Hospital.
