Sedation Services

At Women’s & Children’s Hospital we recognize that children have special needs and may have a heightened sense of anxiety when it comes to certain medical procedures.  Because of this our pediatric staff offers the service of sedation for certain diagnostic testing procedures such as an MRI or CT scan.  Sedation will decrease fear and anxiety in your child allowing for a more relaxed procedure and experience.  It is our goal to help your child remain at ease throughout the duration of any procedure.  We ask that you inform us of any special needs your child may have so that we can provide the highest level of treatment and care possible.

Oral sedation is available five days a week during regular hours.  Currently, IV sedation is available twice a week and is scheduled in advance.  Both the oral and IV sedations are overseen by physicians and specially trained nurses.
